A primary objective of the Athens Area Chamber of Commerce is to help foster leadership for this community now and for the future. With this new initiative we hope to raise the profile of young leaders in the community that are helping develop a better Athens. We will recognize 10 community leaders under the age of 40. We accepted community nominations for those young people who lead by example and collaboratively seek to implement a bright vision for the community.

The Gamechangers awarded at the first annual event were recognized at an awards luncheon on January 25th, 2022. Erin Barger, CEO of the Food Bank of Northeast Georgia, spoke with their friends, family, and those who nominated them to highlight not only their accomplishments, but who they are in her keynote speech. These deserving young leaders will be featured in Athens Magazine for their accomplishment. This annual event will continue in 2023 with nominations opening this fall.
