Seeing is Believing Bus Tour
Date: 02.09.2012
Price: 0.00
URL: http://www.clarke.k12.ga.us/popup_info.cfm?homepage=1&homepageid=20
Location: Clarke Central High School/1st Presbyterian Church
Description: The Clarke County School District, Junior League of Athens and Athens Area Chamber of Commerce invite you and your school’s parents to save the date for the 5th annual “Seeing is Believing Tour” of our community schools. We hope to see you Thursday, February 9 from 7:30am-1pm.
Great strides have been made in recent years in the school district, with a graduation rate of nearly 71%. As a Professional Development School District, the district has a strong partnership with the University of Georgia including six on site professors-in-residence. Professional Development Schools are designed to improve education at all levels, including Pre-K through 12th grade students. Current teachers and university faculty participate in continuous learning, and university students take classes on site. Because of this, student learning is improved through improved teacher preparation and improved professional development.
Your day will begin at Clarke Central High School where district administrators will discuss a variety of topics, including the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Program, in which all middle schools are either candidate schools or seeking candidacy. Then, you will re-live your school days by boarding a yellow bus and visiting an elementary and high school The tour day will conclude with a luncheon program at First Presbyterian Church and an informative discussion.
Both breakfast and lunch will be provided to participants. There is no fee for attending.
Please respond no later than January 26 via email to seeingisbelievingtour@gmail.com. If you have any questions, please contact the CCSD Director of Public Relations and Communications, Anisa Sullivan Jimenez, at jimenezan@clarke.k12.ga.us. We look forward to seeing you on February 9, 2012!
