Georgia Power's Jim Sykes to Chair Chamber

At the Chamber’s annual meeting the gavel will be passed from 2008 Chair Sean Hogan of Hogan Builders to Jim E. Sykes, vice president, Northeast Region, Georgia Power Company.
Sykes has been on the Chamber board of directors since 2006and has been with Georgia Power since 1973. “I am excited about this year for the Chamber,” says Sykes. “We have outstanding leadership involved with the Chamber. The Athens Area Chamber of Commerce is a solid investment in the future of our community and the Athens area. With a unified vision and the strength of more than 900 members, the Athens Chamber ensures a pro-business climate which encourages business growth and success.”
In addition, the Chamber has appointed three new members, Paul Chambers, Northeast Georgia District Manager, AT&T; Kenneth D. Lumpkin, Executive Vice President,The Peoples Bank; and Steve Stevens, BB&T. Frances Williams has retired from the board.
